Heart Attack Symptoms

In the event of a heart attack, getting quality care in time can save heart muscle and preserve brain function.  Knowing the signs of a heart attack may allow you to recognize a heart attack in a friend or loved one in time to get help.  According to the American Heart Association, the following symptoms can signal a heart attack:

• Breathing difficulties, including shortness of breath
• Chest pain, discomfort or tightness
• Cold sweat
• Light-headedness
• Nausea
• Pain in the neck, back, jaw or stomach

If you or a loved one begins experiencing any of these symptoms, don't try to get to the Emergency Department yourself, call 911 immediately.
